Brentwood may be getting a five-story apartment building

Plans have been filed for a 50-unit apartment complex in Brentwood.

The project — on the corner of Rochester Avenue, Centinela Avenue and the Santa Monica Highway — would be a five-story, 42,827-square-foot structure. Currently, the site is occupied by a retail strip center.

The owners of the property are Jimmy and Camillia Masada under the entity Sunset Strip Properties LLC, according to CoStar. They purchased the property at 12431 West Rochester Avenue for $4.8 million in 2007.

The apartment building would also have two levels of underground parking, and the apartments would include five affordable housing units as part of a density bonus request, city records show.

Brentwood, located just northeast of Santa Monica, ranked fourth place in terms of luxury home sales volume in the first quarter of 2016, with 16 luxury sales, The Real Deal previously reported.

About another mile northeast, Hudson Pacific Properties recently acquired a 500,475-square-foot Class A office tower at 11601 Wilshire Boulevard, just on the border of Brentwood.
