From the New York website: Should Donald Trump win Tuesday’s election and become president, the Secret Service would “strongly recommend” that he not stay at his Trump Tower penthouse when visiting the city.
Law enforcement sources told the New York Post that the Fifth Avenue skyscraper is a security nightmare because it’s a public building where residents and guests can come and go as they please.
“It’s definitely a strong concern that he doesn’t stay there, because it would be a lot harder to protect him there, a lot harder to secure,’’ a source told the newspaper. “It’s not like Camp David, where no one can get to it.’’
After Trump locked down the GOP nomination in July, the building put in place its own security measures, including checking the IDs of anyone who enters the building and requiring tenants to fill out applications for all of their visitors.
But law enforcement sources those measures won’t go far enough to protect Trump if he becomes president.
“He’s not liked,” one source bluntly told the Post. “So there’s the concern of someone taking a shot at him.”
Agents believe Trump probably would not listen to their warnings if he were elected president anyway, another source said.
“They can tell him, but he’ll do whatever he wants. At the end of the day, he’ll probably do what he wants to do,” a source said. [NYP] – Rich Bockmann
