It may be eggnog season, but Los Angeles real estate remains active as ever.

Gelt, an L.A.-based multifamily investment firm, recently recruited a new asset and acquisitions coordinator. Unlike other recent industry poaches, Josh Satin hails from major-league baseball, a former infielder for the New York Mets.

Satin joins Gelt after making some real estate investments of his own while he was with the Mets. He will be working to identify and acquire properties for Gelt. The company is on track to reach $1 billion of investment activity in 2017, according to a recent company announcement.

Satin retired from baseball in June after an injury. He also played first base, second base, and third base with the Mets.

Real estate marketing firm Polaris Pacific has a new hire fresh out of New York City: Mike Akerly, a former project manager for Halstead Property Development Marketing.
