Architectural renderings for Fig + Pico, a project comprising a pair of planned hotel towers in L.A.’s South Park neighborhood, have been released.

The two firms collaborating on the design are Gensler based in San Francisco, and Yabel Pushelberg, based in Toronto and New York, Urbanize reported.

The hotel complex’s developer, the New York-based Lightstone Group, is gearing up to build the towers on a 1.22-acre site across the street from the Los Angeles Convention Center, the same block as other high-profile projects such as the Circa and 1020 Figueroa.

One 42-story tower is slated accommodate two hotels, with a combined 820 rooms. A third, 342-room hotel would be located in a 25-story tower, planning documents show.

The buildings would rise from a mid-rise podium structure comprising 13,000 square feet of retail space, conference areas, rooftop pool decks and parking. There would also be illuminated signage.

Construction is slated to begin in late 2017 or early 2018, pending approvals. [Urbanize] Gabrielle Paluch
