Mattel Inc. wants to build a bigger playground.

The toy manufacturer filed plans to expand its El Segundo headquarters by adding a 445,000-square-foot new development to the site, Urbanize reported.

The company wants to construct three buildings: a 14-story, 293,160 net-square-foot office at 455 Continental Boulevard; an eight-story parking garage; and a six-story, 174,240-square-foot office building with a new surface parking lot.

Plans call for the demolition of a 57,082-square-foot building at 1955 East Grand Avenue to make way for the six-story development.

The project site totals about 12.5 acres and consists of three parcels located at 333 Continental, 455-475 Continental and 1955 East Grand Avenue, city documents show.

The company announced another big change last month by naming Margaret Georgiadis as its chief executive.

Georgiadis previously served as president of Americas at Alphabet Inc.’s Google. She is expected to start her new role at Mattel on Wednesday, replacing Christopher Sinclair, who will serve as executive chairman. She will be the company’s first female CEO since Jill Barad’s three-year stint in the late 1990s. [Urbanize]Subrina Hudson
