The Vagabond Inn just outside of the University of Southern California main campus could soon be replaced with a taller, shinier hotel.
The proposed seven-story hotel property, courtesy of developer Vista Investments, will go before the city’s planning commission Thursday.
Plans call for two hotel brands to occupy the 1.7-acre site, an extended stay brand with 150 rooms and another standard hotel brand with 125 rooms, Curbed reported.
The hotels, slated to rise at the corner of Figueroa and 31st Streets, would share a lobby and amenity deck with a pool, gym and barbecue area.
Planning department staffers have already recommended that the commission approve the project, as Vista agreed to pay an extra $500,000 for green space improvements in the surrounding community. [Curbed] — Cathaleen Chen
