Nourmand & Associates doubled down on new hires this week with two new agents. Daniel Carson will join the firm after 13 years at Sotheby’s International Realty’s Los Feliz outpost, while Brett Miller comes to Nourmand from Hurwitz James Company, where he worked for 16 years. He will be based in Brentwood and work under office manager Gavin Fleminger.

Meanwhile, Carson, who know the Los Feliz neighborhood well as a longtime resident, will work out of Nourmand’s Hollywood office under manager Howard Lorey.

In the commercial industry, CBRE has a new executive vice president. Ed Balazs joined CBRE Capital Markets’ debt and structured finance team, the firm announced Wednesday. He most recently served as the western region director for Citigroup, where he originated commercial mortgage loans for securitized transactions.

At CBRE, Balazs will specialize in commercial debt under executive managing director Jeff Majewski. In his 25-year career, he has closed over $15 billion of loans, according to the CBRE announcement.

Cooper specializes in advising and representing capital markets institutions, financiers, and investors on transactions, while Liffman focuses on commercial and acquisitions lending.

Finally, JLL promoted Amber Shiada, previously the director of research for Northern California, to director of research in the entire Southwest region, which encompass five markets: L.A., Orange County, San Diego, Phoenix and Las Vegas.
