The priciest home listings in LA last week
The more than two-acre Brentwood estate owned by the late James “Jay” McMahan and his wife Jacqueline hit the market asking $32.5 million, immediately snagging the top spot of The Real Deal’s priciest home listings in LA last week.
The home has eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a tennis court, a swimming pool and a koi pond. Its square footage wasn’t disclosed.
McMahan got his start in the furniture business – taking over his father’s namesake company McMahan’s Furniture in 1951. He also purchased Williams-Sonoma in 1978 with partner Howard Lester for $100,000, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The furniture magnate passed away in 2011. His wife Jacqueline, who died in January, was the co-founder of the antique dollhouse and miniature museum Angels Attics in Santa Monica.
