A modern and glassy mansion in Doheny Estates asking $44 million was the priciest listing in Los Angeles last week.
The 12,000-square-foot home, perched on a bluff, was custom-designed by a French family, who decided to sell to relocate for their children.
Listing agent Paul Lester said the owners tore down the existing home and spent four years designing and building it, the Wall Street Journal first reported. They included a host of bells and whistles with the three-story property, which has has five bedrooms and six bathrooms. A moat-like water feature with fire pits surrounds part of the structure, for one. It also has biometric fingerprint readers and geo-fencing technology that can activate or lock the lights and electric sliding doors.
The family acquired the home through an entity registered to Jean-Jacques Allouche for $6.65 million in 2012. It neighbors Nile Niami’s $500 million spec manse, which is currently under construction.
