Macy’s will shut Westside Pavillion location after all

Department store Macy’s Inc. announced it will close its Westside Pavillion location at 10730 Pico Boulevard next year as part of its downsizing, the Los Angeles Business Journal reported.

The 220,000-square-foot property sold to Brentwood-based GPI Cos. in January for $50 million, prompting rumors the struggling retailer would be moving out. Macy’s has been leasing the space from the development firm since the sale.

The announcement comes on the heels of a recent North Hollywood location closing, and reflects the company’s plan to close roughly 100 locations nationwide. Macy’s published a list of 68 targeted closures in January, however none of those named any L.A.-based locales.

Macy’s still has a location at the renovated Westfield Century City mall, which just underwent a major $1 billion renovation. Other locations can be found at Downtown’s the Bloc and the Beverly Center.

GPI made headlines this August when it announced its much-contested plans to demolish the historic Amoeba Music site at 6400 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.
