To most people, October is reminiscent of cooling temperatures, falling leaves, pumpkins and the occasional scary movie. In Los Angeles, however, a rising heat wave coincided with soaring real estate prices.
Case in point: Johnny Carson’s former Malibu estate on Wildlife Road came on the market for a whopping $81.5 million. The mansion took the lead of most expensive listings to hit the market in October. It is currently owned by film producer and Sidney Kimmel and his wife, Caroline, who acquired the site and two contiguous parcels for $46 million in 2007.
