In-flight entertainment firm planning renovation at Playa District
Global Eagle Entertainment occupies 24K sf at one of the buildings
Construction work at Playa District is about to get amped up.
Global Eagle Entertainment is planning to overhaul its 24,000-square-foot space in one of the buildings at the office campus, which is currently under construction, according to a filing from the Department of Building and Safety.
The company, which provides internet connectivity on flights, filed construction permits for “non-structural work,” which would include building more partitions and making changes to the ceiling and external finishes.
A spokesperson for the company did not return requests for comment.
Global Eagle is a tenant at 6080 West Center Drive, located within the five-building, 1.4 million-square-foot Playa District. Other tenants include Sony Corporation and Pepperdine.
JLL handles leasing for the site.
The technology company’s remodel comes as landlord EQ Office is undertaking its own major renovation of the campus. For the remodel, EQ has teamed up with co-working firm Industrious and Rios Clementi Hale Studio, an architecture firm based near Crenshaw.
Once it is completed in early 2019, the campus will have three gyms, sports courts, full-service restaurants, and outdoor decks.
