A 197-acre property in eastern L.A. County has hit the market for $99 million, representing one of the region’s largest land listings in recent memory.
The property is located north of the city of La Verne, in the foothills of the Angeles National Forest, and consists of four parcels. Although the property is listed as “vacant land,” it contains one four-bedroom, 2,300-square-foot house with an expansive balcony, according to property records and listing materials.
The house has sweeping mountain views as well as a pool, and the property also includes other small structures. The house was built in 1927 and remodeled in 1971.
The site is currently zoned for light agriculture, which allows a single-family residence.
The property is owned by husband and wife Honghua Shang and Puchun Cai, who bought the 7-acre parcel that includes the house for $1.1 million in 2017, according to property records, although it was unclear how much the other, larger parcels previously traded for.
Shang, who appears to go by the English name Harry, is also a broker who frequently represents Chinese buyers. He has the listing with a Rowland Heights-based company called Great Wall Realty. Two phone numbers for the broker appear to be out of service.
The listing, which went up over the weekend, ranks as one of the largest — and most expensive — pieces of land in L.A. County. In northeast L.A., one 16-acre lot is on the market for $38 million, and a 35-acre lot in Malibu is listed for $35 million.
The largest piece of available land, though, is the 264-acre Senderos Canyon property in Bel Air, which is currently at auction and accepting bids at a minimum floor of $39 million.
