There’s more competition in the race for Orange County’s all-time priciest listing.
A mansion in Newport Beach’s Harbor Island enclave was recently listed with the ask of $74 million, according to media reports which included The Orange County Register.
If it sells for the listing price, 20 Harbor Island Road, will take the title of priciest residential sale in Orange County history. It’s a distinction that has been held for nearly two years by Joseph Edelman’s $70 million purchase of a mansion in the Irvine Cove area of Laguna Beach in November 2021.
The sellers, Leslie Shattuck and her siblings, chose to sell the home after their mother Catherine Shattuck, passed in May. “Rather than one of us getting it, we just decided that it’s best that no one gets it,” Shattuck told The Wall Street Journal. A family member has resided in the home since 1951.
Located on less-than-a half-acre, the six-bedroom, 3,600-square-foot home is based on the shorefront of Harbor Island. The house offers a private dock for several yachts. There are around 29 other homes on the island, which is a guard-gated community.
Listing the property are Rob Giem of Compass and Evan Corkett and Steve High who are affiliated with Coldwell Banker Realty. Corkett and High have previous experience with Orange County’s high marquee mansions. They represented the seller for the $70 million mansion that currently holds the title for Orange County’s priciest sale.
Some of the other priciest listings in Orange County are based in the Newport Coast enclave. They include 6 Midsummer, which was listed for $70 million. There’s 46 Deep Sea and 31 High Water which were listed for $60 million.
