Landsea Homes, which ranks among the country’s most prolific single-family home developers, has planned a new community in San Bernardino County.

The company recently purchased 191 sites for the project in Ontario, it announced Monday, and plans to build a new development called Dusa that will include 95 single-family homes and 96 townhomes.

In a statement, Tom Baine, the company’s Southern California president, cited other projects it has developed in the market and said the recent land deal “reinforces our bullishness and commitment to the Ontario market.”

A representative for Landsea declined to comment on the price for the land.

The project is slated to rise near the intersection of Haven Avenue West and Chino Avenue, southeast of Downtown Ontario and the Ontario International Airport and near Landsea’s existing Neuhouse development. Dusa’s single-family homes will range from around 2,000 to 2,300 square feet, and the townhomes will range from around 1,300 to 1,600 square feet.

Landsea, which moved its headquarters from Newport Beach to Dallas this year, was founded in 2013 as a U.S. spinoff of a Chinese builder. The company went public in 2021 and has large master-planned community projects around the country, including in Dallas and Greater Austin. In Southern California, the company has existing communities in Ontario, North Fontana, San Juan Capistrano, Anaheim and Placentia.

Neuhouse, the company’s existing Ontario community, features three neighborhoods, with some available homes listed from the high $500,000 range to the mid $600,000 range.

A study last year found Ontario was the biggest growth spot for the logistics industry in the Inland Empire, with a total of 650 warehouses in the city.
