A crowded real estate media landscape just got a density bonus with a new site geared towards home sellers, buyers and industry professionals.
Broker Josh Flagg of “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles” has joined forces with content producer Griff O’Brien and Andrew Shanfeld of private equity firm Carolwood to launch Estate Media, a startup backed by $1.65 million from investors, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Estate Media, based in the Hollywood Hills, includes a website slated to go live today with digital video, TV, newsletters, podcasts and education for the real estate industry and its fans.
Backers include Upstate Shredding CEO Adam Weitsman, a partner, plus Powerhouse Capital, Morning Brew CEO Austin Rief and Avenue Growth Partners co-founder Brian Goldsmith.
Free content backed by ads will feature what Estate Media calls “real estate’s biggest personalities” and brands. It will feature broker Tracy Tutor of “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles,” plus “Zillow Gone Wild,” a blog starring zany home listings.
Estate Media said it plans to charge real estate professionals for educational content.
Flagg will host a “master class” on winning listings and closing deals, while mortgage broker Margot Ettedgui will host a segment featuring celebrity-home gossip and trends, according to the company.
Estate Media also plans to pitch advertisers on reaching both real-estate industry players and home seekers and sellers through branded content, social-media integrations, tailored ads and virtual and face-to-face events.
