TV writer and producer Marta Kauffman has bought a Broad Beach home in Malibu for $23.6 million.
The co-creator of “Friends” and “Grace and Frankie” purchased the 3,300-square-foot beachfront cottage on nearly an acre at 31202 Broad Beach Road, according to the Robb Report. The seller was Mark Attanasio, owner of the Milwaukee Brewers, who listed it for $24.8 million.
The baseball team owner bought the double-lot property more than 20 years ago in two separate deals for $6.4 million.
He then spent a “small fortune” fixing up the shingled Cape Cod-style house, built in 1946, and installing a basketball court, according to Robb. The walled estate had previously rented for as much as $150,000 a month.
Kauffman’s purchase of the five-bedroom, five-bathroom house and guesthouse expands her oceanfront footprint.
Her new home is next door to a $16 million house she has owned since 2006. Together, both properties add up to 1.3 acres and more than 7,000 square feet of living space on one of Malibu’s most exclusive beaches.
The main house includes a chef’s kitchen and a dining/family room that opens onto an oceanfront patio, plus an upstairs master bedroom with ocean views and a balcony.
The brown-shingled house with dormer windows has lawns and gardens, a sandy sitting area by the beach, and a wooden deck with a jacuzzi and fire pit. There’s a one-bedroom guesthouse and a detached two-car garage with a bathroom and laundry room.
Broker Ari Attanasio of Sotheby’s International Realty, who is Mark Attanasio’s daughter-in-law, held the listing. Broker Ellen Francisco of Coldwell Banker Realty represented the buyer.
