LL Cool J might be on his way out of Cali.
The rapper has listed his four-bedroom, 6,000-square-foot home at 15641 Meadowgate Road in Encino for sale, with an asking price of just shy of $6 million, according to property records and online listings. Deborah Bremner at Coldwell Banker Realty is marketing the home.
The contemporary-style house in the Royal Oaks enclave of Encino sits on almost half an acre. It has a two-car garage, a heated spa and a pool house. Inside, it features vaulted ceilings, a powder room, a second living room and an expansive walk-in closet, according to the Zillow listing.
LL Cool J, whose real name is James Smith, bought the home with his wife Simone for $4.3 million in 2018, records show.
The home was redeveloped in 2017 by Burt Blum, a real estate developer based in Encino who died last year.
If a sale goes through at more than $5 million, LL Cool J may be subject to a 4 percent transfer tax, under the City of Los Angeles’ Measure ULA regulation for transfer taxes.
The average price of a home in Encino was about $1.5 million as of April, according to Zillow data, up 9 percent from April 2023.
Many celebrities have called the San Fernando Valley enclave home, given the proximity to major production studios and entertainment-related companies. Zedd, Michael B. Jordan, Joe Jonas and Kelly Clarkson have all either bought, sold or listed homes in Encino over the last three years.
