One of Los Angeles’ largest boutique brokerages continues to grow its ranks this year.

Lisa Optican is the latest agent to join Carolwood Estates, taking on the title of estates director. She was previously with Douglas Elliman.

Optican brings nearly $139 million in off-market listings to the firm. That includes a Malibu property with a $75 million ask, another in Bel-Air at $35 million and a Brentwood estate at $28.5 million.

The agent’s resume includes several prominent homes tied to L.A. history, including Marilyn Monroe’s Brentwood house on Helena Drive, which was listed for $6.9 million and sold for $7.3 million in 2017. There was also the 2020 sale of the Van Griffith Estate, a Los Feliz home built in 1925 by the son of Griffith Park benefactor Griffith Jenkins Griffith, which sold for $8.3 million. In January, Optican listed a Craftsman-style Pacific Palisades home on Asilomar Boulevard at $9.6 million and sold it for $9.7 million.

Carolwood and Optican declined to comment on her joining the brokerage.

The Beverly Hills-based brokerage is one of L.A.’s largest boutiques, ranking eighth on The Real Deal’s most recent list.

The company counted $1.6 billion in volume across 290 deals posted on the Multiple Listing Service between May 2023 and May 2024, according to TRD research. The rankings data does not account for off-market deals or transactions under $1 million.

If off-market transactions were included, Carolwood’s volume is nearly $2.7 billion for the same May-to-May period, according to the brokerage.

Optican’s addition follows Kevin Booker’s recent start at Carolwood’s Bond Street Partners team. Booker joins from Westside Estate Agency, where he spent about a decade working with several high-profile clients as luxury homes, sports and entertainment manager.

Bond Street team is helmed by founders James Harris and David Parnes, who starred in “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles.” They jumped from The Agency to Carolwood in February.

Bond Street’s celebrity clients have included Kevin Durant, Rihanna, Carey Mulligan and Demi Lovato.
