A Del Mar beach house with superyacht design cues has hit the market for $75 million, marking the priciest listing in the seaside resort.
The oceanfront property, less than two miles from the Del Mar racetrack, is at 2920 Camino Del Mar in San Diego County.
If sold at or near its asking price, the manse would set a record as the priciest on-market sale in Del Mar. The mansion at 2940 Sandy Lane currently holds that title after trading for $44.1 million last October.
Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty’s Rande Turner and Melissa James have the listing.
The brokerage declined to provide seller information. San Diego County property records and city design review documents show the property is owned by trusts tied to the Vickers-Naftzger family, who are long-time cattle ranchers.
Named Ocean House Del Mar, the new build counts seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms across 5,690 square feet. The property sits on more than half an acre.
Studio William Hefner designed the estate, drawing inspiration from a superyacht “to withstand the elements,” according to the listing. That includes a seawall built in 2021 and DaVinci roof to withstand high winds.
“The goal is to spend your time using it, not maintaining it,” Turner said in a statement on the home’s materials.
Other property highlights include 75 feet fronting the water, an area to play ping-pong in the home’s interior courtyard, pool and private gate to the shore.
It’s the first time in almost 100 years the lot has been developed, with the estate reflecting a dozen years of planning and construction up until October when the home was completed.
