Stream Realty Partners has expanded its investment brokerage practice in Orange County with a foray into the multifamily market.

The Dallas-based commercial brokerage has hired Pat Swanson to lead its apartment-focused practice from its Irvine office, the Orange County Business Journal reported

Swanson now serves as managing director of multifamily, answering to Marty Pupil, executive managing director of Stream’s Irvine office and its Southern California partner. Swanson and Pupil once worked together at Colliers International.

“This is an opportunity to grow out the platform,” Swanson told the Business Journal, saying he would use his experience to increase Stream’s presence across the Southland.

Stream will focus on apartments in OC, then plans to expand into Los Angeles and the Inland Empire, he said.

Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties are home to more than 65,000 apartment buildings, according to Pupil.

Swanson brings 22 years of experience to Stream, having previously served as executive vice president at Colliers.

Also joining the multifamily team in Irvine are Briana Cornell as senior marketing manager, Michael Bouras as senior associate, Aidan Jang as analyst and two support staff.

Stream Realty Partners, founded in 1996, has $8.8 billion in annual transactions from office, industrial, retail, healthcare, land and data center properties, according to the Business Journal. Among the largest brokerage firms in the Midwest, it has offices in Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Miami, Nashville, Phoenix, San Antonio and Washington, D.C.
