Former OPI executive Miriam Schaeffer nailed L.A. County’s priciest condo sale in recent years with her $39.1 million penthouse purchase, The Real Deal has learned.

Schaeffer’s penthouse buy this month at Century City’s luxury skyscraper The Century marks Los Angeles County’s most expensive condo trade in at least the past three years, according to Zillow records reviewed by TRD research.

The seller is a limited liability company called RV 702 managed by Arthur King, property and state records show.

Douglas Elliman’s Bachir Oueida represented the seller, while Sotheby’s International Realty’s Jacob Dadon negotiated on behalf of the buyer.

Schaeffer’s new pad stretches across the entire 39th floor at 1 West Century Drive. Highlights of the condo are as upscale as the tower it’s in.

The unit’s listing touts hand-painted 22-karat gold leaf on the ceiling, floor-to-ceiling windows, Macassar ebony walls in the living room and 11-foot projector screens. The unit has more than 9,400 square feet that include three bedrooms and seven baths. It also comes with four parking spaces, a dedicated cabana and about 1,200 square feet of office space within the building.

Schaeffer, whose ex-husband George Schaeffer started nail polish giant OPI from a dental company he bought in 1981 and sold it to Coty in 2010, is no stranger to buying and selling luxury homes in L.A. County.

In September she sold the Malibu carbon neutral residence named Zero One for $25 million. That’s $2 million more than what she paid for the property at 11865 Ellice Street in 2022, according to property records.

Even with Zero One’s sale, Schaeffer holds quite the collection of high-end homes in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Malibu and Hidden Hills, according to a look at property records. Many of those were acquisitions over the past five years.

That includes Schaeffer paying $35 million in 2023 for a 4,300-square-foot home at 31048 Broad Beach Road in Malibu. In addition, she shelled out nearly $51 million in total in 2021 across three purchases for properties in Los Angeles, Malibu and Hidden Hills.
