Ever wanted to experience a 1920s-style speakeasy without leaving your house and shelling out $20 for a cocktail? Now’s your chance.
A three-story Tuscan villa-style mansion in Newport Coast has hit the market for $49.9 million, the Orange County Register reported. The home, located at 36 Pelican Crest Drive in the Pelican Crest gated community, sits on a half-acre lot and was designed by so-called “King of the Megamansion” Richard Landry.
The home, built in 2003, spans 13,206 square feet and boasts six bedrooms, six bathrooms and three half-bathrooms. The property overlooks the ocean and the Pelican Hill Golf Club and features a koi pond upon entry, a detached guest house and a 16th-century Venetian fountain, with olive and melaleuca trees dotting the landscaped areas.
The infinity-edge pool is one of a kind, complete with bespoke Italian glass mosaics. Lounging outside is made easy thanks to a covered loggia creating an open-air living room with ocean views.
Entertaining is made easy thanks to a butler’s pantry, walk-in pantry, large dining room and a kitchen with a six-burner stove and double oven. If you’d like an unforgettable drink, head down to the speakeasy-style bar with underwater views of the pool through windows between the liquor shelves. Or, if you’d prefer wine instead of a mixed drink, head into the temperature-controlled wine cellar to pick out a bottle.
The lower level also features a vintage-inspired theater with hand-painted ceiling murals and crystal lighting. You can also work up a sweat at the fully equipped gym, then relax in the massage room and wash off in the steam shower.
Don’t bother taking the stairs to go between levels, either. Each floor is accessible by elevator.
The home is in a living trust of late World Oil Corporation CEO Robert Roth, who died late last year, according to PropertyShark records reviewed by the Register. He was survived by his wife Georgia, who leads the trust today.
