Carl Gambino lands $75M listing once owned by Ricky Martin, Michael Caine

Beverly Hills mansion neighbors the Pritzker and Chartwell estates

Beverly Hills Manse Once Owned by Ricky Martin Asks $75M

A $75 million Beverly Hills mansion once owned by Ricky Martin and Doris Day’s family has entered the market.

Carl Gambino, who helms the Gambino Group at Compass, is marketing 1309 Davies Drive, which hit listing sites Tuesday. Gambino declined to comment.

Records through Propertyshark show the home last traded in 2006 from singer-songwriter Ricky Martin to Michael S. Smith and his wife Iris Smith. Ownership has since been shuttled from trusts to most recently a shell company called 1309 Davies LLC, which has a Broomfield, Colo. address tied to Blue Spruce Capital Corp.

Previous ownership of the home tells quite the history. Among the list of those who once called the property home are Martin and Oscar winner Michael Caine, whose credits include “The Dark Knight” and “The Cider House Rules” among other titles. The family of actress and singer Doris Day also at one time owned the property.

Whomever moves in will be rubbing shoulders with equally as high profile a group in the area’s neighbors.

About a 10-minute walk away is the Pritzker Estate at 1261 Angelo Drive. The home is currently listed for $175 million but asked as much as $195 million in October. It’s being sold by Hyatt Hotels heir Anthony Pritzker and his ex-wife and philanthropist Jeanne Pritzker.

Less than three miles away in Bel-Air is 875 Nimes Road, which is known as Chartwell Estate. The mansion, which was used in the opening credits of “The Beverly Hillbillies” TV show, was purchased by News Corp chair and Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan Murdoch, who paid $150 million for it in 2019. It was the priciest deal in the state’s history at the time.

The Davies Drive home spans a little over 9,200 square feet and has six beds and 12 baths.

The gated estate’s motor court has room for more than 20 cars, with the over two-acre lot holding a main residence, guest house, tennis court, children’s playground, security house, orchard, herb and rose gardens.

Among the main home’s highlights are a theater with a snack room, along with a primary suite that touts its own terrace and massage room.
