A chateau-inspired mansion in Brentwood hit the market for the first time ever, asking $42 million.

The 9,000-square-foot residence at 12721 Chalon Road was custom built for the seller, a trust tied to Stan and Abbie Golden, property records show.

Stan previously ran the international business for Saban Productions, which is now BVS Entertainment and part of the Walt Disney Company. He is currently founder and president of Golden Touch Media, which is described in state filings as a film and television production and distribution company.

Coldwell Banker Realty’s Jade Mills and Albert Sousa, along with The Agency’s Santiago Arana have the listing.

The Goldens’ asking price equates to $4,491 per square foot.

The five-bedroom, seven-and-a-half-bathroom home has a two-story living room, office, library, gym, wine cellar and tasting room.

The Goldens purchased the lot in the guard-gated Brentwood Country Estates in 1998 for $2.4 million, according to property records, and built the current residence from the ground up.

The Hilton family developed Brentwood Country Estates, which is home to only 13 properties set on sprawling lots with views of the canyons and Pacific Ocean. After the community was developed, the lots went up for sale in the early ’90s for a reported starting price of $2.5 million.

Several A-listers have called Brentwood Country Estates home over the years. Past homeowners include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Heidi Klum, Tom Brady and his now ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. Dr. Dre (née Andre Young) bought the home once owned by Brady and Bündchen for $40 million in 2014.

The Goldens’ home is about a five-minute walk from 12833 Chalon Road, which is owned by Douglas Emmett founder Ken Panzer. Panzer put his home up for sale last July, with a $58.5 million asking price that made it the most expensive listing in Brentwood at the time. It was bested not too long after by 3099 Mandeville Canyon Road, which is on the market for $70 million, or $3,500 per square foot.

The asking price for Panzer’s Chalon Road residence was cut to $49.5 million in October, with a deal pending on the home since January.
