A Beverly Hills mansion that once belonged to Mark Wahlberg and is currently owned by Don Rufus Hankey has gone into contract.
The home at 9694 Oak Pass Road in Beverly Hills is asking $21.8 million, or $1,561 per square foot, and topped out last week’s signed contracts, according to the Eklund Weekly Luxury Report Los Angeles.
The weekly roundup, compiled by Marcy Roth of Douglas Elliman’s Eklund Gomes team, tallies signed contracts of Los Angeles County properties listed in the Multiple Listing Service for at least $4 million.
Hankey is the son of billionaire and Hankey Group founder Don Hankey, who was a lender to developer Nile Niami on The One mega mansion in Bel-Air. The property was sold out of bankruptcy to Fashion Nova founder and CEO Richard Saghian for $141 million, a far cry from 944 Airole Way’s $295 million listing.
Property and state records show Hankey bought the home in 2018 for $12.4 million, nabbing a steal given the estate originally hit the market for $30 million.
Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California’s Aaron Kirman and Daniel Milstein hold the listing on the seven-bedroom, 12-bathroom Oak Pass Road property.
The nearly 14,000-square-foot home is in the gated Oak Pass community and sits on a sprawling, 1.7-acre lot that includes a main residence, guest house, two-floor gym and basketball court. Other highlights include a salon, theater and orchards.
Last week’s second largest home to go into contract based on asking price was another Beverly Hills home, located at 621 North Maple Drive.
The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home is listed for $17.5 million, or $2,173 per square foot.
Located in the Beverly Hills Flats neighborhood, the home underwent a major renovation that was finished in 2020 and expanded the home’s footprint by about 3,500 square feet. Highlights include a library, meditation room and theater. The property also has a guest house spanning almost 1,000 square feet.
Property records show the home last traded in 2016 for $8.5 million to a trust tied to Stephen Prough, co-founder of investment bank and wealth management firm Salem Partners, and Marina Berti.
The Agency’s Andrea Korchek is the listing agent.
Overall, Los Angeles County inked $169.3 million in signed contract asking volume across 20 properties last week, according to the Eklund Gomes report. That’s down three contracts and up nearly 5 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
