A mansion in Irvine that has set multiple price records in the past could do it again just three years after its last sale.

Venture capitalist Chad Peets and his wife Cari listed their six-bedroom, roughly 13,000-square-foot home at 76 Golden Eagle for $38.5 million, the Wall Street Journal reported. The couple acquired the home from cosmetics mogul Joni Rogers-Kante in 2023 for $25 million, setting a local record at the time. Rogers-Kante bought the home from radio personality Jim Rome in 2017 for $12.7 million, another record-setting sale for the time.

The Peets executed a $10 million renovation effort, which wrapped up earlier this year. The home features two kitchens, three offices, a conference room and a wellness suite complete with a gym, steam room, sauna and an outdoor cold plunge. The property overlooks a private golf course in Shady Canyon, according to listing agent Rob Giem of Plus Real Estate. The gated community boasts large lots near Newport Beach, known for fetching some of the highest home prices in Orange County.

The Peets at first planned to split their time between Irvine and Newport Beach but recently decided to build a family compound in Newport Beach’s Bay Shores area. Chad is a managing partner at Newport Beach-based tech investment company RPT Partners, while Cari is an interior design aficionado who has renovated approximately 25 houses, she told the Wall Street Journal.

Shady Canyon has seen several big-ticket sales in recent years. Before the Peets’ acquisition in 2023, a 15,100-square-foot mansion at 60 Golden Eagle sold for $17 million, tying its own record for the highest price for a single-family estate in the Orange County city. The following year, baseball legend Albert Pujols offloaded his home at 25 Cactus for $8.8 million.

In the last quarter of 2025, single-family homes in Irvine sold for an average of roughly $2.6 million, an increase of 3.4 percent from the same period in 2024, per Miller Samuel data cited by the Wall Street Journal.
