Monthly mortage calculations include principal and interest payments, assume a credit score ranging from 680-699 and assume a 30-year fixed mortgage with a 20 percent down payment and a 4.12 percent interest rate, which was the average U.S. interest rate reported by Freddie Mac on April 12, 2019. Monthly homeowner’s insurance calculations assume a rate of 0.22 percent, which is the average homeowner’s insurance rate in California.
