Since the start of the year, Suzy Reingold has worn two hats. She is in charge of 180 Cushman & Wakefield brokers working out of the firm’s Midtown and Downtown offices while heading up broker recruitment and training, a combination the commercial brokerage’s newest executive managing director for its New York City operations described as that of mentor and advocate.

“My position, as I look at it, is as a service to the brokers to help them to expand their business and to make more money,” Reingold told The Real Deal.

That might include proffering advice or strategizing for the future in an increasingly tight Manhattan office market. The borough’s commercial vacancy rate, according to Cushman & Wakefield, was at 8.4 percent by the end of 2005 – the lowest rate in six years.

Reingold succeeded Ken Krasnow, who moved in December to a similar role at brokerage Trammell Crow after 18 years at Cushman & Wakefield. Before assuming her new job, Reingold was a seven-and-a-half-year veteran senior managing director with CB Richard Ellis, where she oversaw the management, development, recruitment, and training of that brokerage’s New York staff as well as company management policies nationally.

Her new job marks a second stint with Cushman & Wakefield. In the early 1990s, she was managing director of strategic agency and client services for C & W’s eastern region, which includes Houston, Chicago, Boston, and Washington, D.C.

Before that position at Cushman & Wakefield, Reingold was an executive vice president and manager of the New York regional office of the San Francisco-based Shorenstein Company, where she was also director of marketing and leasing. She started her real estate career as leasing director for the Mendik Company, now part of Vornado, and later was an executive vice president as well as director of leasing and public relations at the Related Companies. A member of the New York State Bar since 1972, Reingold, 58, graduated from New York University School of Law.
