REBNY hires Bloomberg official for key role

Another member of the Bloomberg administration is headed to REBNY, apparently part of the organization’s effort to beef up its political fund-raising and advocacy. The Real Estate Board of New York named Angela Sung its new senior vice president of management services and government affairs last month.

Sung was formerly the deputy chief of staff for Robert Lieber, the deputy mayor for economic development. This background could come in handy — her new role with REBNY requires her to serve as a liaison between the public and private sectors. Her job will also demand a close monitoring of building code and property regulatory issues.

Steven Spinola, REBNY president, cited Sung’s “unparalleled” experience as key to her new job.

The move comes on the heels of James Whelan, a former Bloomberg staffer, joining REBNY in its political organizing department. Whelan had worked as an economic strategy advisor for Bloomberg.
