The project’s first phase will create 38 condominium and townhouse units, 9,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space and 67 parking spaces. Master developer Gale Belmar LLC expects to begin actual construction in early 2007.

Westminster Communities is developing a mixed-use complex directly across from Cranford’s train station. The $16 million project will consist of two buildings housing 50 condominium units and 22,000 square feet of retail space. The condo units will range in size from 1,100 to 1,400 square feet. Developers announced in September that the 140-year-old warehouse will be converted into luxury condominiums, with famed architect Rem Koolhaas doing the design. The building will be 1.3 million square feet and include 710 units. There will also be 120 work-live units, some of which will be offered to artists at below-market rates. The plan also calls for 16,000 square feet of art galleries and about 52,000 square feet of retail. The owners hope to start building next year, with completion expected by mid-2009, the New York Times reported.

Louis Cappelli in October topped off a 44-story condo/hotel tower that includes a 123-room Ritz-Carlton Westchester on the bottom 10 floors. The 400-foot Costas Kondylis-designed tower will become the tallest building between New York City, Boston and Montreal, according to the Post.
Yonkers, NY

Stamford-based developer Collins Enterprises and equity partner AIG Global Real Estate broke ground in September on the second phase of the Hudson Park at Yonkers development. The $110 million project will have 294 one- and two-bedroom luxury rentals in two towers of 12 and 14 stories that will be connected by a four-story building. Rents will range from $1,800 to $3,000. Completion is scheduled for December 2008.
