In the face of declining sales volume and prices in the city, yesterday saw developers seek and obtain approval for 629 new condo or rental apartment units in Fort Lauderdale. Construction of hundreds of condos in the city is ongoing, including the 172-unit project Sapphire, which topped out this week. Some developers in the city are shifting multifamily projects from condos to rentals, because it is easier to obtain financing for the latter.
