When Davie’s rezoning moratorium expires on May 21, developers are expected to begin building on the town’s 31 mobile home parks, which house a quarter of its population. Having declared an affordable housing crisis in 2006, city officials are debating various ways to raise funds to provide housing to those pushed out of their rented trailer home space. The leading proposals would take funds from private developers, which some believe is unfair and would stunt the town’s growth. Town officials will vote on the first proposed ordinance on April 16.
