Recent financial analysis has revealed that construction of a possible 27-story luxury Hilton Hotel next to the convention center in Fort Lauderdale will require Broward County to pledge up to $21 million a year. This would include a fifth of tourism tax money and all of the revenue collected from events at the convention center. Developers have until May 1st to outline financing details for the $460 million plan, but are asking the county for an extension, during which they will request legal aide from the state attorney general.
