For some Miami entrepreneurs, including house maintenance companies and property tour buses, the foreclosure crisis has been somewhat of an economic blessing. Green Thumb Lawn Services, a landscape in Miami Gardens since 1985, saw a 50 percent increase in business since mid-February, after a spike in foreclosures prompted banks to hire it to maintain seized property. Goldfish Holdings and Property Preservations was started in 2004 to maintain second homes during hurricanes, but has also recently garnered business from seized properties.
