Building’s dept head resigns

Miami Beach building department head Thomas Velazquez resigned Tuesday amid a corruption investigation. Three department employees have already been arrested in the course of the investigation and assistant director Graciela Escalante has been questioned by police, according to city officials. Miami Beach City Manager Jorge Gonzalez said Velasquez could no longer do his job effectively under the circumstances.
