Laughs grow at CityPlace’s Improv

Palm Beach Improv is getting more laughs and more space at its CityPlace location.

The comedy club is doubling its size by adding 7,000 square feet, expanding into the neighboring space and upper level, creating 700 seats.

Palm Beach Improv’s general manager and operating partner Joel Bachkoff said the club has had a steady growth in ticket sales since it opened in 2001.

“We’re on a roll, and the time is right to make this move that will allow us to bring even larger comedy acts and small concerts to the area,” Bachkoff said in a statement.

Palm Beach Improv closed yesterday for construction and plans to re-open before the end of the year.

The club feautres open-mic amateur nights and draws acts like Cedric the Entertainer and VH1’s Christian Finnegan. It has a second location in Fort Lauderdale.
