Metrozoo plans move forward

July 14, 2008 08:10AM

Miami-Dade commissioners last week unanimously approved land-use changes to Miami Metrozoo property to allow development of an entertainment center, 23-acre water park and 200-room hotel. While a best-case scenario has the development moving forward within three years, updated land-use document that keeps the land exempt from downzoning require a 2021 completion of the project. A request for proposals for the water park portion should be advertised within 30 to 45 days, according to Kevin Asher, supervisor of special projects for Miami-Dade’s Park and Recreation Department.
