The efforts of a task force to reduce mortgage fraud resulted in the arrests of 30 people, according to Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez. The suspects included real estate agents, mortgage brokers and home appraisers, as well as people who allegedly sold their identities so homes could be bought in so-called straw-buyer schemes. The task force has netted 56 arrests since it formed in September. A statewide task force is in the works as well; Gov. Charlie Crist is expected to sign executive orders getting it off the ground in August.
