Scams target the vulnerable

Florida’s mortgage scams were part of a sharp nationwide increase in fraud last year, according to a recent report. The Consumer Federation of America said fraud aimed at people in financial trouble, particularly mortgage and foreclosure scams, played a major role in the increase. Senior citizens, youths, poor people and those with disabilities are the most affected by the scams, according to the federation’s survey.
