SelectBuild Florida, a major framing and construction services contractor, will cease operations in the next four months because of the state’s housing slump, its parent company said. Building Materials Holding, the San Francisco parent of SelectBuild, said the state’s economic weakness will force the closure of the company, which frames single-family homes. It will shutter its offices in Sunrise, Jupiter, Fort Pierce, Orlando, Fort Myers and Sarasota and lay off about 140 employees. Housing starts in Florida are predicted to fall almost 40 percent this year, to 61,000, and are down sharply from the 2005 peak of 265,000, the company said.
