New policies needed for 350,000 homeowners

Citizens Property Insurance Corp., the state’s largest home insurer, will require its 350,000 customers with windstorm coverage to reapply or face policy cancellations. A spokesman said that this is part of an administrative change. The revamp will also require new coverage valuations that will boost premiums for homeowners who opted for lighter coverage and lower fees. Citizens will also tighten coverage standards and some older homes will no longer be eligible for windstorm policies.
