Fort Myers’ City Council announced today an agreement with developer
Acquest Realty Advisors to undertake a five-acre project planned for
the city’s downtown area. Acquest will be partnering with design firm
HOK Venue, local architects Parker Mudgett Smith and retail developer
Boorn Partners on the project. Currently in its preliminary stages,
plans call for the expansion of the area’s existing Harborside Event
Center, as well as the construction of a companion hotel for the
center, public parking and mixed-use entertainment components. The
footprint of the project is located on the Caloosahatchee River,
bordered by the Event Center, Centennial Park and the Fort Myers Yacht
Basin. TRD
