Distressed properties may be more numerous than alligators in South
Florida’s collapsed real estate market. Data collector RealtyTrac
reports 3,589 homeowners in Miami-Dade County and 3,155 in Broward
entered foreclosure in July. Thousands more homes were repossessed by
lenders through public auction sales. Tens of thousands of homes have
been lost by owners over the past 18 months.
