Fay claims top 11,000

The state Office of Insurance Regulation says Florida residents have reported 11,275 claims due to Tropical Storm Fay. John Kuczwanski a spokesman for Citizens Property Insurance Corp., says the state-backed insurer has 2,262 homeowners’ claims so far, including 871 — or 39 percent — in South Florida. State Farm Florida Insurance Co. has 4,649, Universal Property and Casualty has 1,115 and USAA has 1,348, according to Office spokesman Ed Domansky.
