Palm Beach County landowners can appeal their property tax bills until Monday. Officials say they expect as many as 15,000 people to file petitions this year — challenging their 2008 property assessments and homestead classifications — with the county’s value adjustment board, a five-member group that oversee appeals. Owners have until 5 p.m. Monday to file their petitions with the county clerk’s office. Petitions can also be filed online at www.mypalmbeachclerk.com. The charge to file a petition, both online and in person, is $15. In St. Lucie County, the deadline to file property-tax challenges is Friday. Martin County residents have until Sept. 29.
