Utah developer files for bankruptcy

The Utah-based developer Woodside Group LLC filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday. A group of banks and insurance companies had been trying to force the builder, which owes lenders and investors about $742 million, into bankruptcy for a few months. The company was founded in 1977 and operates in a number of Western states, as well as in Florida and Washington, D.C. The builder employs about 850 people and its annual revenue tops $1 billion, according to its Web site.
