Kohl’s opening first stores in South Florida

Kohl’s department store will open six stores in Miami-Dade and Broward counties on October 1. Nine additional Kohl’s stores will open in other parts of the state that day, including the first Kohl’s in Gainesville. The South Florida stores were built with recycled building materials and received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification. Founded in 1962, Wisconsin-based Kohl’s opened the first of its 23 existing Florida stores in October 2005 and has been expanding southward through the state over the past three years. The retailer is considering opening additional sites between downtown Miami and North Miami-Dade.
