James Batmasian, a Palm Beach County land mogul who is one of the largest property owners in the country, must report Tuesday to a federal prison in South Carolina to begin an eight-month prison term for tax evasion. He failed to pay $250,000 in federal withholding income tax. He’ll serve his term at the Federal Correctional Institution in Estill, S.C. Batmasian will be expected to work 7.5 hours a day at a job paying anywhere from 12 cents to 40 cents an hour, according to Felicia Ponce, a spokeswoman for the Bureau of Prisons in Washington.
