Despite the $700 billion bailout package, Congressman Tim Mahoney, D-Palm Beach Gardens says the U.S. economy is facing a deep downturn. Mahoney said he voted for the bailout in spite of a flood of calls from constituents who opposed it, calling it a rescue plan for the rich. He says the same people who called to decry the package were the ones who stood to lose the most if it hadn’t been signed.
